Aerosol Products Recycling Challenge

Did you know that empty aerosol products are recyclable?

Well, they ARE, but many consumers don't know it and many local recycling programs don't include them. So, your mission is to help make a difference by raising awareness in your local community.

In order to successfully carry out this mission, you must complete the following:

  • Research Learn the facts about aerosol products, and their ability to be recycled
  • Reach Out Find out the status of aerosol can recycling in your community and make a plan to improve it
  • Results How did you make a difference? Did local officials agree to (or consider) adding empty aerosols to the curbside recycling program? If they are already accepted; did you find a way to let more people know?
  • Record It Prepare a 30-90 second video that "makes the case" for recycling aerosol products - The video should demonstrate your knowledge of aerosol products (their attributes, safety guidelines) with a focus on why they should be recycled. See the Entry Requirements section for more details.

What's in it for you?

Apart from making a positive impact in your community and for the planet, you can win cash prizes for your classroom or your school-related club or activity.

First place: $3000
Second Place: $2000
Third Place: $1000

Additionally, there will a $500 cash drawing for all teams that register by April 6th, 2012.*

*Prize will be contingent upon completing and submitting entry by May 11th deadline.
